Welcome to the National Wildland Fire Conference website. We are proud to help lead this important gathering, which has grown over the last 20 years into a vital forum for professionals addressing the evolving challenges of wildland fire.
What began as a focused legal event has expanded into a national, multidisciplinary platform bringing together attorneys, judges, firefighter agencies, investigators, engineers, educators, researchers, academians, technological innovators, energy and community resilience experts, scientists, insurers, utilities, government officials, and policy makers. This community plays a critical role in shaping how we understand and manage to respond to wildfires across the country. The efforts towards wildfire risk mitigation, and resiliency are critical for our society.
Each year, the conference offers expert panels, CLE opportunities, and meaningful dialogue that drives real-world impact. We’re excited to share that some of the presentations under consideration are investments in the future and grid-strengthening initiatives, evolving legal expert and evidentiary developments, advancements in firefighting technology, and aviation, and outreach, updates in wildfire reform and trending legislative movements and much more.

Highlights from the 2026 Conference
Broad and Diverse Attendance
Over 250 attendees from across the wildfire, utility, insurance, legal, government, consulting, and emergency response sectors, came together to collaborate, learn, and help shape the future of wildland fire prevention, mitigation, and response. Participants included policy makers, academics, students, fire investigators, vegetation management teams, wildfire analysts, community resilience and technology experts, engineers, mediators, attorneys, judges, utilities, insurers, Government Representatives cooperatives, tele-communication groups, natural resource departments, with a strong representation from Firefighting Agencies, and public interest groups.
Thought-Provoking Speakers
In addition to 28 distinguished panelists, we were honored to welcome Four-Star Admiral Robert Willard (Ret.), CEO of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, as our keynote speaker, and to receive remarks from U. S. Senator Alex Padilla and other distinguished leaders emphasizing the importance of wildfire risk mitigation, resilience, and cross-sector collaboration.
Wildfire Workshop & Academy
A conference highlight was the Fire Academy & Workshop, hosted by the City of Oceanside Fire Department in partnership with wildfire investigators and experts, providing hands-on training and interdisciplinary knowledge sharing.
MCLE Credit Across Multiple States
The conference offered continuing legal education credits from over 15 State Bars across the country, reinforcing its value for legal professional working in wildfire law and policy.
